On the BBC's Meat and Global warming issue...

BBC World Service

USA: 9:00 am EST - April 13th, 2012

On Newshour at 12/13GMT: a new report says everyone in the developed world should cut their meat consumption by half to prevent the worst effects of global warming. Do you agree? And could you do it?

My Answer:

In the interest of full disclosure – I am a meat eater with a guilty conscience , trying to cut down…

Who could disagree with the overall need to cut down the amount of meat that we eat for both health and global warming reasons.  You could add to that the moral reasons too that we should not have to kill anything in order for us to live.

But the 800 pound gorilla in the room is POPULATION -  the biggest problem that the world has to contend with, and one that gets bigger and bigger by the day is global overpopulation.

Without that the world comes to grips with the need to beneficially and intelligently reduce global fertility rates the majority of Earth's problems will continue to escalate

How to do this is the biggest question…
