The Global Forum – South Africa
The vision of the Global Forum is indeed inspirational, and the responsibility that you and Michael Elliot have in trying to propose an agenda must be both daunting and thought provoking – what to include, what to reject.
You have said:
"We've given the conference the title the New Global Opportunity because there's a realization that we can't go back to the old ways. Growth has to be inclusive and sustainable. And the role and potential of those who have been marginalized in the past--the poor, especially women and girls--will only grow."

I am writing to ask if you would consider including the topic of Global Overpopulation and the question of what the World can do to begin a sensible path towards an intelligent and compassionate resolution to this problem. Left unchecked increasing overpopulation will result in an escalating advance of global, human and natural disasters which will inevitably have catastrophic consequences. Indeed almost without exception all of the Worlds current problems can be put at the foot of Global Overpopulation
There is massive evidence to corroborate these statements and substantial learned opinion to support them, and yet no one person, country or government has begun to champion the issue
I urge you to read my recent letter to President Obama outlining this problem and citing sources of academic confirmation

Dear President Obama….
“My letter is to urge you – you are probably the best and only person in the world today who might have the ability to set us on a sensible path towards intelligent and compassionate resolution of these problems - to begin a process of helping humankind, on a global scale, to find ways of reducing human populations. I realize that this is potential political poison, but if not you, then who? Somebody needs to do something, for though I may not be around in 2050, my daughter’s generation and their families will, and they will have to live with these consequences”
“For time is becoming increasingly precious, and our “window of opportunity” for effective remedial action may be quite short, if it has not already passed”.
Ken Smail (PhD Yale, 1976) is Professor of Anthropology (Emeritus) at Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio
The problem is, of course that the addressing of this problem is both political and religious suicide, and it cannot and will not be addressed by this means. The Global Forum however is one body that could begin a dialog aimed at resolution and control of this reality, and I urge you, for humanitarian reasons to raise this subject before it is too late.
As you have said…
Growth has to be inclusive and sustainable. And the role and potential of those who have been marginalized in the past--the poor, especially women and girls--will only grow."
It is these marginalized peoples who already bear the brunt of the problems associated with overpopulation, and who can most benefit, as will we all if education and reasonable, agreeable, common sense controls could be implemented
If I can be of any help in this process please do let me know and good luck with the Global Forum
Sincerely
Peter D. Revers
