Chaos, Collapse, and Survival

Today's article by Peter Goodchild was one of the more chilling things that I have read on the subject of Overpopulation and it has turned my otherwise good day into bad

http://www.countercurrents.org/goodchild130311.htm

I believe that I am forever an optimist, but on this subject I feel pessimism creeping in. I feel the world might be too late to resolve the problem given the fractured nature of global society, religion, the frightening and appalling amount of cruelty and lack of human decency

The frustration is that there are millions of people in the world who can see these obvious signs, and who are increasingly concerned. The question is how can we harness this "like-mindedness" into some form of positive and benevolent action? And by this I mean some global voluntary, benevolent yet planned long term reduction in fertility

I keep using the word "benevolent" to differentiate what I am proposing, from the other more probable, drastic, inhuman solutions that nature or one section of mankind will visit on the other if Peter Godchild's and many other predictions inevitably come true

I believe, if it is not too late, that given good positive global will, that it might be possible to address the overpopulation problem, but I can't help, with the benefit of experience and hindsight but be pessimistic
