Well this is a retrospective post, and one that I wanted to do a few days ago, following the announcement by British Authorities about the foiling of the plot to blow up several airliners en route from the UK to the USA.
My main comment is that I am appalled by the number of supposedly important, educated, should know better, holders of sensitive position people, who, under the shield of anonymity give details, sometimes incredibly sensitive details about the current situation. This is then followed by the media who begins a frenzy of searching for specialists who can then educate us all into the components of bombs, how to find these components, details of how to put them together to make a bomb, and even to the methods of mixing and detonating them in an airliner.
How stupid.
I’m all for free speech, but this is ridiculous. Granted anyone who is really interested can now find out anything on the internet, but my concern is with all the freaks and cooks out there who might be motivated to follow along.
In Britain, in the Second World War there was a saying “Loose Lips Sink Ships” this same sentiment is true today. When will these supposedly knowledgeable specialists stop strutting their stuff to CNN and the like, and help our security personnel by keeping quiet.
