Names of the Dead
The Department of Defense has identified 1,839 American service members who
have died as a part of the Afghan war and related operations. It confirmed
the death of the following American on Friday:
BRAGG, Mikayla A., 21, Specialist, Army; Longview, Wash.; First Infantry
Division.
A version of this list appeared in print on December 24, 2011, on page A8 of
the New York edition with the headline: Names of the Dead.
Can you imagine her parents and family hearing the news that their 21 year
old daughter / wife / sister has been killed - and on Christmas eve?
How can we communicate with them to offer our sympathy and condolences?
